Partnership

Clust-ER BUILD, Clust-ER CREATE

Role of the Cluster

CLUST-ER BUILD is one of the three project partners and will be responsible for initiating the creation of a Living Lab and/or a hub to support the development of the circular economy value chain in the construction sector (more sustainable buildings, innovative materials, circular solutions).
In line with one of the project’s main objectives, another strategically relevant activity will focus on planning new training paths—both to develop new skills (bio-based materials and sustainability) and to strengthen existing competencies.
Thanks to its network, CLUST-ER will facilitate the involvement of stakeholders from the regional innovation ecosystem and support the technological transfer of results to value chain actors.

Description

The VCI Bioeconomy project’s main goal is to strengthen the network of skills and Living Labs in the Emilia-Romagna region, as well as national and international relations networks, to develop new opportunities based on the bioeconomy.
The project aims to develop systemic actions (in collaboration with national and international stakeholders) and projects focused on circular economy and environmental sustainability.
Alongside these, a strategic objective is the creation of high-level training programmes designed to respond to the challenges of the ecological transition.
From a content perspective, the central theme will be the recovery and valorization of agricultural co-products (from plant, animal, and aquaculture production), aimed at obtaining high-quality raw materials for the food, feed, textile, and green building supply chains. Thanks to the collaboration between the ecosystems represented by the three project partner clusters, it will be possible to lay the groundwork for testing examples of industrial symbiosis in certain areas of the region.The construction sector value chains involved in the project are multiple, highlighting the potential impact and future development of the VCI Bioeconomy activities:

  • innovative and sustainable construction materials;
  • circular economy and intersectoral reuse of materials;
  • sustainable building and urban regeneration;
  • digitalisation
